VicRoads Regional Operations is committed to a road network that supports an integrated and sustainable transport system. This involves working across government to promote the integration of transport and land use, as well as reducing the impact of transport on the natural environment. It also ensures that the public transport system is supported in providing accessibility and sustainable travel options.
 
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has become available for a full time Road Worker position servicing the VicRoads road network in the South West. Working as part of the South Western Alliance (a consortium between Vicroads and Fulton Hogan) the core duties of the position are to provide a high level of pavement repairs, vegetation management, signage and furniture repairs and installations, and many other road maintenance activities. This position is based in Geelong, working within a crew of fellow Road Workers to service and maintain the South Western part of the state including the iconic Great Ocean Road, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast through to the South Australian boarder.
 
About You
The ideal candidate for this role will possess:
- Medium Rigid truck licence
- Current licences and tickets in plant operation; Traffic Management, chainsaw and First Aid.
- Be available for call outs (sometimes at night and weekends) as well as overtime work
- Previous experience in road maintenance or civil construction (preferred)
- Construction Induction Card or equivalent
- Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices
- A strong ‘team player’ with the proven ability to work efficiently with others
- Self-motivated with a high level pride in works undertaken
- A strong commitment to OH&S.
- Certificate II or III in Civil Construction would be an advantage

Key Accountabilities

KA 1. 
Perform a variety of road and bridge routine maintenance and construction as a cooperative team member in accordancewith established practices and procedures.
KA 2.  Perform and respond to emergencies both during and outside business hours under the supervision of experiencedpersonnel.
KA 3.  Resolve problems and as appropriate work methods that meet expected quality, environmental and safety standards.
KA 4.  Performs maintenance and construction tasks under general supervision.
KA 5.  Develop skills in operating plant and equipment safely and effectively
KA 6.  Develop skills in implementing Worksite Traffic Management Plans
Key Capabilities

KC 1. 
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of VicRoads OH&S policies and procedures including Safe OperatingProcedures, Safe Work Method Statements and Traffic Management Plans.
KC 2.  Ability to undertake road and bridge maintenance and construction activities under supervision of experienced personnel.
KC 3.  Demonstrated ability to implement worksite traffic management plans.
KC 4. Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency response situations in a safe manner.
KC 5.  Ability to operate various minor plant items safely and efficiently and in accordance with established policies andprocedures.
KC 6.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively within team and ask others for assistance as required.
