About the role

The senior content writers will join Content Group, assisting develop new platforms, products and systems of work (deliverables), aligned to the key pillars of WorkSafe’s Strategy.

Senior content writers collaborate with fellow portfolio disciplines, design partners and subject matter experts to integrate customer insights, business and legal requirements, and design elements, to help inform the inception and development of user-centric products, services and associated communications.

The positions will be assigned initially to support differing business functions, as outlined below:

  • position 1: developing user-centric technical, internal content to guide the workforce’s use of a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, requiring you to draw on your UX, technical writing skills and capacity to easily comprehend system-oriented information.
  • position 2: developing user-centric content to support internal and external products, platforms and communications.

Key accountabilities

  • Produce accurate and engaging content (including short and long form copy) for multiple formats
  • Adopt simple plain English content that is accessible and readily comprehended by a diverse community, including people with low literacy, culturally and linguistically diverse audiences and those with a lived experience of disability
  • Comply with content guidelines and cross-portfolio protocols as well as WorkSafe customer-centric and prevention-led principles
  • Review and edit content created by service providers and business subject matter experts, ensuring agreed consultation and approval processes are followed
  • Collaborate closely with relevant product owners, project managers and business analysts, as well as fellow content writers to inform and progress the development of content within set timeframes
  • Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures. This is applicable to both hardcopy and electronic information, including email

About you

You are an experienced content writer/ technical content writer who wants to make a difference. You display excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, and have a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. You are a team oriented person who enjoys making a positive impact on your team and stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in a similar role, including experience producing written content for varied audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to translate and distil often complex or technical information into accurate, engaging copy
  • High-level proficiency with English grammar fundamentals
  • Refined oral communication and interpersonal attributes including the ability to liaise with peers and stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Working knowledge of digital content principles (taxonomy and information architecture)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of content design for search engine optimisation (SEO)
  • Detailed understanding of metadata and content tagging
  • Tertiary qualification in journalism, copywriting, digital content, user experience design or digital marketing
