The Position

Opportunities are available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Cardo Thoracic) to commence within our Perioperative Services Department and provide guidance and support to all peri-operative caregivers, enabling them to develop and deliver excellent clinical skills in the area of Cardio-Thoracic surgery. Additionally, responsibilities further include coordinating the budget (in consultation with the Surgical Services Coordinator), for the purchase of appropriate equipment and instrumentation.

To be considered for this position, applicants must hold post registration cardio –thoracic qualifications and relevant experience particularly in coordinating new services within the peri-operative setting.

This is a permanent part time position of 38 hours per fortnight.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Currently registered with the Nurses & Midwives Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Relevant post graduate qualification.
  • Experience in coordinating new services within the peri-operative setting.
  • Have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
  • Ability to lead, supervises, give direction and delegate to the team.
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication.
  • Work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of continuous quality improvement principles.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
