About the Role
Reporting to the Director, P&C, you will lead a highly motivated team and be responsible for the design and execution of the City's strategic direction of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.

This role will be instrumental in building a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture that recognises and responds appropriately to the full range of risks to which our people are exposed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic and tactical advice to the Director, People & Culture and other senior leaders to ensure that modern Health, Wellbeing & Safety systems and practices are implemented across the organisation.
  • Build systems and processes which drive accountability for achieving strategic and operational health, safety and wellbeing goals at all levels within the organisation.
  • Support the Executive Leadership team in role modelling, teaching and coaching health, safety and wellbeing values driven decision making across the organisation.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to the injury management operations, premium reviews and act as the liaison officer for our WorkCover Agent.
  • Develop, measure and monitor Health, Safety & Wellbeing analytics to optimise the Health, Safety & Wellbeing agenda.
  • Lead the investigation of major incidents and serious accidents.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in designing, implementing and embedding Health, Safety and Wellbeing best practice strategies and frameworks in a complex and diverse organisation based on AS/NZS ISO 4801.
  • Experience in undertaking incident, emergency, crisis management and business continuity activities within operational functions of a multi-site business or organisation.
  • Experience in managing insurance policies or working as an insurance advisor
  • Highly developed leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build a positive and values-based team culture
  • Ability to build effective relationships, influence and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders to build a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with proven ability to monitor and analyse trends and make recommendations
  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety field
