About the business and the role:

SJ Personnel are working with an iconic Geelong hotel to place a new Head Chef on a permanent full-time basis.

This is a hands on role that requires a passionate leader with strong communication and management skills to lead the venues hospitality team. A real opportunity for a Head Chef to make their mark on the venue and contribute to the menu ongoing.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

Some responsibilities will be inclusive of:

  • Everyday operational management of the kitchen and hospitality staff
  • Training and development of in house staff
  • Administration tasks inclusive of:
    • Rostering
    • Stock control and ordering
    • Monthly budgets and stockades
  • Establishing seasonal and ongoing menus
  • Development of daily specials
  • Contributing to venue strategy moving forward alongside ownership
Skills and experience

To be successful in this role the ideal applicant will possess:

  • Creativity and the ability to think ahead
  • Relevant trade qualifications and a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Management and administration ability
  • The ability to set team goals
  • Exposure to budgets and stock control in a similar environment
  • Commitment to continual development and delivery of exceptional results
  • Previous experience in a high volume, fast paced environment
