The Position
St John of God Geelong Hospital are seeking an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join the team in our Special Care Nursery. As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, you are to act as a responsible and effective team member, assists in the overall clinical management of the ward, be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff in accordance with the Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia Scope of Practice and deputises for and assists the Nursing Unit Manager.
To be considered for this role, candidates will have CPAP expertise, high risk neonatal care and PIPER transfer experience.
This role will be offered on a permanent part time basis offering 60 hours per fortnight.
The successful candidate will have:

- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
- Effective communication skills.
- Surgical experience essential.
- Willingness to undertake Paediatric life support workshop.
- Commitment to on-going education and self-directed learning.
- Delegation and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing.
- Ability to educate patients, family and staff.
- Knowledge and skills of the principles of infection management.
- Planning and organisational skills.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams.
