Geelong retrenched workers getting back on track

Posted: 5th Jun

This month has seen the completion of a Federal Government funded program called "Men's 45+" which was facilitated by the Geelong Region Local Learning Employment Network (GRLLEN). Eleven mature aged men who had been retrenched from their respective employment undertook a four day workshop to share their experiences and gain valuable information on returning to the workforce. Topics included health, business development, identifying skills and talents plus resume writing. The men were then connected with local private recruitment companies to assist them gain interviews for employment opportunities.

The men reported the opportunity to share their experiences with other men in similar situations was very helpful and has helped them feel motivated and excited about transitioning back into work. The group of eleven created a facebook page to continue their contact, share their stories and generally help and encouraging each other. Many of the men have had job interviews and gained employment.

The GRLLEN would like to thank the following for their valuable support throughout this program.
